University of Abuja students who went on rampage Monday morning to protest the non-accreditation of Engineering courses run by the university, were on Tuesday morning, forcefully evicted from their hostels by soldiers who were reportedly acting on the instructions of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, James Adelabu.
The University Management had on Tuesday directed all students to vacate their hostels before 6am Wednesday.
An Engineering student who simply identified himself as Gabriel said “as at 6:30pm on Tuesday, soldiers and students raided the hostel at both campuses and ordered the student to leave.
“We were chased with rifles and sticks, what a shame! And we are in a democracy,” he lamented.
Efforts to get the side of the management’s story were unsucessful as the Vice Chancellor, James Adelabu, did not respond to text messages sent to his mobile phone.
