President Goodluck Jonathan says his faith in the unity and progress of Nigeria is unshakeable and he will continue to dedicate himself to the strengthening of the country.
"I wish to seize this opportunity to reiterate my unshakeable faith in our great nation, Nigeria," the president said yesterday in a message to the graduation ceremony of the Senior Executive Course 34 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos.
Jonathan whose speech was delivered by Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu added: "As I pledged in my 2012 Independence Anniversary Broadcast, I see it as a sacred duty to continue to strengthen the bonds of unity that hold our nation together.
"Everything will be done to promote and nourish the creative energies of our people. My administration is firmly focused on this objective and will never be distracted. I wish to reassure everyone that the future of our country is bright."
President Jonathan said he appreciated the contributions which NIPSS has made in efforts to find solutions to the nation's problems and promised that he was committed to a pledge he made earlier this month to make it unnecessary for the institute to run around soliciting for funds to accomplish its mandate.
He congratulated the graduating students for successfully completing their course and urged them to use their knowledge to help the country grow.
"This is your special day and you have every reason to celebrate, but I will like you to know that your new status as Members of the National Institute: mni, carries with it not just privileges but more importantly, responsibilities," the president said.
Sixty-six participants formally graduated at the event from the Senior Executive Course 34 of the institute.
