7-Inch Car Part Removed From Man’s Arm 51 Years After Wreck

n-ARTHUR-LAMPITT-large570
Fifty-one years ago, a man named Arthur Lampitt from Granite City, Illinois, smashed his 1963 Thunderbird into a truck. 51 years after, which is this week., a 7-inch turn signal lever from that T-Bird was removed from his left arm during surgery in suburban St. Louis. AP reports:

Dr. Timothy Lang removed the lever Wednesday during a 45-minute operation. Lampitt, now 75, is recovering at home. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the accident broke Lampitt’s hip, drawing attention away from the arm, which healed.

A decade or so ago, his arm set off a metal detector at a courthouse. An X-ray showed a slender object the length of a pencil, but since it caused no pain or hardship, Lampitt was told to let it be. He was moving concrete blocks a few weeks ago when the arm began to hurt for the first time. “Everything was fine until it started to get bigger,” Lampitt’s wife, Betty, said. “The arm started bulging.”

Lampitt decided to have surgery. He initially wasn’t sure what was in the arm. He wondered if perhaps a medical instrument had been left during the emergency room visit in 1963.

He unearthed a collection of old photos of the mangled Thunderbird taken by a friend at the scene. He noticed the metal blinker lever was missing from the left side of the steering column. He figured that was it, and surgery at City Place Surgery Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri, confirmed it.

PHOTO: Man Tattoos His Eyeballs

After Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos got 70 percent of his body covered in tattoos, the 39-year-old Brazilian citizen wanted something a little different.
photo
So he got his eyeballs tattooed. He turned the whites of his eyes into dark pools, via a procedure using a special syringe-like needle that injects the ink into the eyeball -- permanently.
“I cried ink for two days. Now to go back, only changing the color to white again. But still, i think it’s half gray,” Santos said.
Santos, who is known to his pals in Sao Paulo as "Musquito," is a tattoo artist himself. He paid fellow inker Rafael Leao Dias nearly $500 to do the eyeball darkening.
“There is no drilling," Dias said, according to MyHealthBowl.com. "We apply the ink between the conjunctiva and sclera layer that protects the eye. I studied the procedure for two years and performed my first application in Oct. 2012. The law does not prohibit this, here or abroad. There is no risk or discomfort due to the use of specific eyewash."
Eyeball tattoos have been reported for nearly 2,000 years, according to an FAQ on the subject by BME.com that stresses potential dangers include blindness.
However, the injection method used by Dias originated in Toronto about six years ago, according to Vancouver-based body modification artist Russ Foxx who has done a number of eyeball tattoos himself.
"The contrast and relationship between a person's natural iris color and the scleral tattoo can create all sorts of amazing and beautiful effects," he told HuffPost blogger La Carmina. "For example, tattooing the sclera solid black will have differing effects if a person has crystal blue irises as opposed to dark brown irises. Brighter colors have drastically different effects."
As beautiful as an inked-up peeper might be to some, Australian tattoo artist Jack Smith doesn't see himself doing it anytime soon.
"With anything new you don't know the long-term risks to start with," he told News.com.au. "A few of the guys are now losing their sight and other guys have had no real drawbacks, but you don't really know."

Hermaphrodite disgraced in Sapele

There is nothin you will not see in Naija...this our country is a very hilarious place to live in...just enjoy the story below
From Tribune,

A man in his late 40s, who refused to utter a word despite the hysteria his presence generated, was almost lynched by a mob but for the intervention of police and other security agents.

The man, whose name could not be ascertained was discovered to possess a full grown pair of breasts, which dangled from his chest, just like those of a young woman.
An angry mob was going for the kill when security operatives were quickly drafted to the scene. Their (mob) grouse was that it was strange and unacceptable that a man would possess dual sex organs.

Young men near a filling station at the Sapele-Warri/New Road junction tore the man’s clothes, and revealed a very small male organ, allegedly with no scrotum – which to them suggested that he was a hermaphrodite.
Saturday Tribune gathered from some onlookers who claimed to know the man that he had been seeking spiritual solutions to his problem by moving from one church to another.

It was further learnt that at one of the churches, he started manifesting some strange behaviours while for some time he hid his male and female sexual organs from church officials who later found out his status as a hermaphrodite.

The voice and face of the man were masculine even as he was said to also have female reproductive organs.
Men of the Nigeria Police in Sapele, and the other security operatives who were drafted to scene, quickly dislodged the irate mob, who were taking turns to fiddle with the man’s sex organs, ostensibly to further confirm their suspicions that the man was really a freak.
He was thereafter spirited away by the police to the Sapele Police Station for protective custody and investigations....very sad

Obadare died after three-day revival programme – Church

Founder of the Soul Winning Evangelical Ministry, the Late Prophet Timothy Obadare, died two days after a three-day revival aimed at ending the 23-year-old crisis within the Christ Apostolic Church was concluded, SUNDAY PUNCH learnt on Saturday.

Our correspondent also learnt that the Re-unification and Reconciliation Committee set up by the pastors of the two warring factions within the church organised the revival which started last Sunday and ended on Tuesday at CAC, Oke Isegun, Akure, Ondo State.

The late evangelist died on Thursday evening at the age of 85 in Akure after a protracted ailment.

It was further gathered that pastors, officers and members of the two factions attended the revival where they all asked for restoration of unity within the CAC fold in order to move the church forward.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, one of its coordinators, Pastor Tunde Omojuwa, who confirmed the development in an interview with our correspondent in Akure, however lamented that efforts being made to unite the factions were still being rebuffed by some leaders of the church.

He noted that the time had come for the leaders of both the Supreme Executive Council and the General Executive Council to come together and settle their differences in the interest of the church.

He explained that the revival in Akure was organised following the renewed zeal of the two factions to ensure that the crisis was resolved.

Omojuwa who is also the chairman of the Akure District Coordinating Council said, “The unity revival we held in Akure came up as a result of the new development in the church. Some pastors called on the leaders to put an end to the crisis that has divided the church for over 23 years.

“It was on that note that a group was formed and it is called Re-unification and Restoration Group. Everybody is now concerned as to how the church should come together.

“What we think can bring a lasting peace to our divided church is that they should put away bitterness and come together, the church is not really having problem, it is the leadership.

“Today churches in Supreme Council don’t have anything to do with General Executive Council, this should be put aside so that the church can come under one leadership, this is what we expect and this we have been telling the leaders they should put an end to.

“It was in the process of finding a solution at the revival that he died.”

Why Rape Is On The Increase —Lagos PPRO

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, has blamed unwillingness by some rape victims and their parents to prosecute the case for the increase of the crime in Nigeria.

She said this in Lagos on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

She said, “as long as rape victims and their parents refuse to show interest in prosecuting the case, the offenders will go scot free and more of such crime will happen.

“The victims of rape or defilement are the main witnesses the police need to send the offenders to prison.

“The case is a serious offence under Nigerian law. An offender could be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty.

“We have many people who should be behind bars for violent crimes against women.

“But because the people concerned are not willing to come forward to assist the police in prosecution, they are walking freely and even committing more of such crime.

“If offenders are not punished, many others will be bold to commit such a crime.

“It is unpardonable for a man to defile his underage daughter. Such experience will remain in the mind of the child for ever. Such a man should be punished as deterrent to others.

“The problem we have is that the same people that reported the case to the police would still turn around to settle with the offender.

“Some women, whose daughters were raped or defiled by their husbands, are the ones pleading for their release. In this case, what do you want the police to do?” Braide queried.

The PPRO called on parents, particularly women, to show concern and stand behind their wards to prosecute rape offenders.

She stressed that if the crime remained unchallenged, there would be the possibility of its increase.

She disclosed further that about four cases of rape and defilement by some men against their daughters were recorded since she assumed duty in Lagos command in the last nine months, and nobody had been prosecuted.

“Parents should know that they are not helping their children by accepting to settle out of court.

“They are killing the future of such children. You cannot quantify the pains encountered by the victims with monetary settlement.

“My advice for women is that they should rise to fight any form of abuse against women, particularly rape and defilement.

“The victims and the minors cannot help themselves; their parents must therefore stand for them.

“The police is willing to prosecute any case if those with useful information about the case would be willing to come forward with evidence,” Braide added.

Man Charged With Plotting Against US Abroad

A man who prosecutors said was an overseas operative of Al Qaeda during the years following the Sept. 11 attacks was charged in Brooklyn with a host of terrorism charges, in the latest example of a foreigner accused of acts of terrorism abroad being extradited to American courts.
The man, Ibrahim Suleiman Adnan Adam Harun, who was from Saudi Arabia and a citizen of Niger, traveled to Afghanistan shortly before the attacks and stayed there afterward, training in Qaeda terrorist camps and then fighting American and coalition forces during the early years of the Afghan war, prosecutors said.

Mr. Harun, 43, is accused of traveling to Nigeria next to plot attacks against American diplomatic facilities in that country.

The charges include conspiring to murder American citizens, conspiring to bomb United States government facilities and providing material support to Al Qaeda. Court papers do not indicate whether he took steps to carry out attacks.

Mr. Harun, who is known by the Pashto pseudonym Spin Ghul, or White Rose, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Federal District Court in Brooklyn on Friday.

A lawyer for Mr. Harun, David Stern, declined to comment.

Mr. Harun landed on American soil in October after first being detained by two other countries. He was arrested in Libya in 2005 and held there until his release in summer 2011, when the Libyan government was crumbling.

According to his own account, cited in court records, Libyans placed him on a refugee ship bound for Italy. Mr. Harun said he was arrested by Italian law enforcement and imprisoned in that country after proclaiming his affiliation with Al Qaeda and assaulting Italian officers on the ship.

American law enforcement officials interviewed Mr. Harun in September 2011 while he was in Italian custody. Prosecutors said he waived his Miranda rights.

In a motion that was unsealed on Wednesday, prosecutors said that starting more than a decade ago, Mr. Harun was in direct contact with prominent Qaeda leaders, trainers and fighters. While in Africa, the defendant was also in contact with members of other extremist groups that were either affiliated with Al Qaeda or otherwise targeted Westerners.

A grand jury indicted Mr. Harun in February and the case remained under seal until Wednesday. Prosecutors said they kept the case secret to pursue information provided by Mr. Harun.

“Whether they try to attack our servicemen on the battlefield or scheme to kill our diplomats and citizens in embassies abroad, terrorists will find no refuge,” Loretta E. Lynch, the United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement.

The case of Mr. Harun follows several others in New York federal courts involving defendants who were apprehended abroad and extradited to the United States.

In December, three men of Somali descent — two were Swedish citizens and one a British citizen — appeared in Federal District Court in Brooklyn on charges that they had trained to be suicide bombers with a Somali terrorist group, Al Shabab. In June, an Eritrean man pleaded guilty in Federal District Court in Manhattan to conspiring to support Al Shabab.

End Times! EFCC Arraigns 3 Pastors Over N7.9m Fraud

Three pastors David Eshiet, Samson Ugbara and Adesanmi Aderoju, were yesterday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged N7.9 million fraud.

The defendants who were arraigned before Justice Olabisi Akinlade of an Ikeja High Court, are facing a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, forgery and uttering.

The defendants were charged by the anti-graft agency alongside their company, Prince and Zion International Service Ltd.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges proffered against them.

The trio were accused of defrauding their victims of the sum under the pretense of helping them to secure large sum of money as loan.

The EFCC counsel, Mr Ben Ubi alleged that the defendants had conspired among themselves to fraudulently obtain N4 million and 25,000 US dollars (N3.9 million) from one Angel Estate Residents Development Association in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

Ubi alleged that the money was obtained on October 27, 2011 under the pretext of helping the complainants source for a 100 million US dollars loan facility.

He stated that the loan was being sourced by the association to finance some community projects, adding that the defendants had obtained the money as processing charges.

Ubi, however accused the defendants of forging various documents which were used in facilitating the fraud.

Adding that after collecting the money, they  failed to secure the loan as promised which led the complainants to petition the EFCC.

Ubi said their alleged offences contravened Sections 1, sub-sections 1,2,3 and 8 of the Advanced Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

He said it also contravened Sections 363 and 364 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.

However the judge ordered the defendants  be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons pending the hearing of their bail applications fixed for March 27.

1,585 Nigerians arrested in Norway for drug trafficking

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Norwegian Intelligence Service have started working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on effective drug control.

Chairman of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade said that the decision was reached after a meeting with a delegation of Norwegian Police and Custom officials at the agency’s office in Lagos, on Monday.

According to Giade, “we need to enter into a memorandum of understanding to deepen our collaboration with the Norwegian government. Drug trafficking is a common problem and we need to embrace the principle of shared responsibility in addressing it. The technical details will soon be perfected. This will lead to improvement in arrests, prosecution and assets forfeiture.”

No fewer than 1,585 Nigerians were apprehended in Norway between 2000 and 2012 over drug trafficking as disclosed by a visiting team of Norwegian police and customs officials who are currently on a field visit to the country.

According to the leader of the delegation, Mr Kai Holm, the visit is to enhance collaboration with Nigerian authorities in counter narcotic smuggling, money laundering and human trafficking.

“In 2012, we arrested 432 Nigerians in Norway and deported 95 over drug trafficking. We need your help in dealing with the problem of West African criminal networks in Norway. Most Nigerians arrested over drug trafficking are based in Europe. They engage in drug smuggling and launder the money back home” Kai stated.

The NDLEA boss, who condemned the involvement of Nigerians in criminal activities abroad promised to take necessary steps in boosting the image of the country. The steps include effective collaboration in counter narcotics, financial and assets investigation and anti-drug education.

The delegation will spend some days in Nigeria while the details of the memorandum are being worked out.

Gay Couple Commits Suicide Over Marriage Problem

French acupuncturist and bad star Wilfried Knight committed suicide last week in Vancouver. Prior to his death, he wrote a series of blog posts expressing his frustration over being forced to move to Canada due to his visa expiring and the U.S.’s inability to recognize his marriage to Jerry Enriquez. Enriquez killed himself days earlier on Feb. 21.

The couple were married in Canada in 2011, but upon moving to the U.S., the Defense of Marriage Act prohibited them from being married in the states. This meant Knight was also forbidden from getting a green card sponsored by his husband.

In the blog posts, written before his suicide, Knight explained the ordeal in detail:

"Never mind our commitment, our years together, i was to be thrown out. My partner knew it and decided to look for a job in the only country that would allow us to be together and marry: Canada.

"And i know what most people will say: Why didn’t you guys marry in Washington, or California, or NYC? Well, IF YOU ARE TWO GAY MEN FROM DIFFERENT NATIONALITY, STATE MARRIAGE DOES NOT MATTER, EVEN IF ONE IS AMERICAN: IT NEEDS TO EXIST ON THE FEDERAL LEVEL TO APPLY TO A MULTINATIONAL COUPLE.” (sic)

Knight explained Enriquez obtained a job in Canada at sportwear company Lululemon. They left America to start a life there. But shortly after, Enriquez was fired by the company after a series of events, leaving the couple financially strapped and without employment, a visa, or health insurance.

Five months later, Knight came home to find his husband dead after he did not answer his texts.

“He had it well prepared. When i came back home worried for not receiving any answer to my texts, i found him there..hanging. I since then discovered the poor guy was on clonazepam and zoplicone to cope with the stress..which he had left there on the side with a bottle of wine he had purchased that morning…Which simply seemed aimed at me, in a way saying: “follow me and see you on the other side’.”

Lover Arrested Over Alleged N40m Fraud

Policemen attached to Lion building division, Lagos, have arrested a staff of the Ketu branch of an old generation bank and his lover who is a student of the Lagos State University, Jibowu campus, for allegedly defrauding his employers of N40 million .

The banker identified as Ade Ahmed, was arrested last month for allegedly withdrawing the amount from his employer's account.

Police sources hinted that further investigation led to the discovery of part of the money in Ade's undergraduate lover's account, subsequent upon which she was also arrested.

But in her confessional statement, Ade's girlfriend simply identified as Mary, claimed she was oblivious of the source of the money.

"All my boyfriend told me was to give him my ATM card and pin number, saying he wanted to transfer some money into my account and I gave him.

He thereafter, warned me not to tell anybody because according to him, he wanted to use it for business", the Computer Science student reportedly said.

But after much scrutiny, she was alleged to have admitted that her boyfriend later told her the sum of N3.7 million deposited in her account was withdrawn from his employer's account.

70-year-old-twin-prostitutes-finally-call-it-day

Recent news confirmed about the retirement of two of Amsterdam's oldest prostitutes. It has been claimed that Twin sisters Louise and Martine Fokkens have renounced prostitution after they felt too old for the profession, which has been termed legal in the city. It was confirmed during an interview with them on March 14.

They have a massive network encompassing some 355,000 men. The duo was the centre of attention in a documentary film titled "Meet the Fokkens". They have apparently written a book focusing on their combined 100-years of sexual exploits called "The Ladies of Amsterdam."

Though they still have their old clients, Martine Fokkens, a mother of three children, shared the problems they are facing luring new clients at the age of 70. "There is no point working just for tax. That is why the girls are working from the Internet and from home - you are less likely to be spotted by the tax man", said Martine Fokken while sharing her thoughts on the high taxes latched in the working girls in their profession.

They won't be getting any retirement benefit although. They are hoping to live a comfortable life ahead with finances they made with their film and book deals.

24 dead, 8 critical in horror crash

De Doorns, Western Cape - The double-decker bus came careering down the Hex River valley outside De Doorns, the driver fighting desperately to keep control as bend after bend rushed up.

There were only two more bends to negotiate but the second-to-last bend was a hairpin and the Atlantic City Liners bus crashed into the mountainside on Friday morning.

By Friday night the death toll stood at 24 in one of the worst road accidents in South African history. Eight passengers were critically injured, 14 seriously injured and 44 others sustained minor to moderate injuries. Two of the dead were children. The bus driver was also among the dead.

Kenny Africa, provincial traffic chief, said: “Apparently the bus was coming from the Beaufort West side towards Cape Town. It is evident that halfway down the pass the driver had problems with the brakes because he went on to the arrester bed, which is used when vehicles have trouble stopping. But he went through the arrester bed down the pass.”

Dumisani Ximbi, provincial leader of the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ, said some of the women passengers had come from a national women’s prayer meeting in Secunda.

In the aftermath of the crash, church members who had followed in several smaller buses could be seen dressed in their distinctive blue skirts and white headscarves milling around the scene, comforting each other and handing out blankets to shocked survivors.

A church leader gathered some of the women and led them in prayer. Rescue workers and medical personnel battled to attend to the injured and those still trapped in the mangled wreckage. The dead were laid out on the road, the bodies covered in silver blankets. Ambulances formed a steady procession ferrying the injured in the direction of Worcester and Cape Town.

“This is the worst accident scene I have ever seen,” was the refrain from almost all those at the scene.

It took about three hours for the first of the relatives to arrive from Cape Town.

One man went to the bus and pulled from the wreckage clothes he recognised as his wife’s.

He couldn’t find her. The anguish was etched across his face as he turned to go to Worcester Hospital, hoping and praying that she was one of the injured.

Rescue and emergency vehicles snaked back along the road almost as far as the eye could see, while Air Force and Air Mercy Services helicopters buzzed overhead.

Amid the death and despair there were moments of hope and prayer as relatives waited for news of loved ones.

Two men whose wives had been travelling on the bus could only look on as medics pulled badly injured passengers out through shattered windows.

“We haven’t heard anything,” one man said. “We can only hope that they will be okay.”

A crane tried to lift the wreckage of the bus to free those still trapped underneath. Seats were protruding through some windows.

A major investigation had been launched into the cause of the bus accident by late yesterday, transport MEC Robin Carlisle said.

“Early reports from the surviving passengers indicated brake failure as the main reason for the crash,” he said.

“The Provincial Regulatory Entity will investigate the legal status of the bus, including the validity of the operating licence, and whether the certificate of fitness is still valid.”

Aneeqah Salie, Communications Officer for Atlantic Charters & Tours, said: “We at Atlantic Charters hereby extend our sincere condolences to all the families and loved ones who have been affected by today’s tragic accident. We are also deeply saddened by the loss of our dear employee, who was the driver of the vehicle involved.

“We pledge our full support to the relevant authorities in the ensuing processes which are currently under way to establish exactly what happened in today’s tragic event. Unfortunately, at this stage we cannot comment any further until the relevant processes have been completed. We will revert to you should we have further information.”
