Obasanjo, Others For NCS Award

THE Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will on December 14 confer on former President Olusegun Obasanjo an Honourary Fellowship Award for his exceptional achievement and services that has accelerated the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Nigeria.
The Society also noted that ICT witnessed accelerated development during Obasanjo’s tenure as President, as a result of his vision and passion for the sector.
It attributed the establishment of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Communication Commission (NCC), Galaxy Backbone, launch of SAT3 by Nigeria Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) and computerisation in Nigeria to his encouragement for the use of made-in-Nigeria computer systems, among others.
Also to receive awards are Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke and Mr. Jim Ovia, founder of Zenith Bank Plc.
