Ryan Giggs Urges Manchester United’s Youngsters To Make A Big Impact In The First Team

Ryan Giggs has urged Manchester United’s youngsters to seize their chance to impress in the last few games of the season.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson can assess his options for the next campaign after United regained the Premier League title with four games to spare.
Belgian teenager Adnan Januzaj has been added to the first-team squad as they prepare to face Chelsea on Sunday and Giggs believes the young players must make a big impact if they are to remain at Old Trafford for the long-term.
“I have seen so many young players over the years have a chance and not really take it,” he said.
“Others think ‘this is my chance I am going to make sure the manager takes notice’ and they perform like they have been doing in the youth team or the reserves.
“Nick Powell did it earlier this season. He came on against Wigan and scored. That is what young players have to do.”

Giggs would move onto 937 appearances if he faces Chelsea this weekend, but the Welshman insists he has not lost any of his passion for success during a 22-year career.
“The hunger comes from a lot of things,” he said. “First and foremost it is about enjoyment. I enjoy the challenge.
“Obviously I am coming to the end of my career, so I am thinking could this be my last chance to win a trophy.
“But retaining hunger is not something I need to try for. It just happens.
“You have to do it at this club. When you go out at Old Trafford, you have to perform. In away games it is the same.
“That comes from making sure I am ready for the game by what I do in training. I have done that for so long I just carry on.”

Chime Death Scare: Security Operatives In Manhunt For Facebook Story Authors

Security operatives are on the trail of the author of the false report that Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime passed on yesterday in India.
The story which caused anxiety and generated a lot of buzz, was posted on-line and went viral before an official clarification declaring the governor hale and hearty calmed many.
Information Nigeria gathered that Chime had a busy day yesterday as he among other activities, approved the appointment of 57 administrators for the 57 development areas of the state.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Amaechi Okolo, said the governor will inaugurate the administrators on May 8 at the Okpara Square, Enugu.
Security sources close to the Government House, Enugu disclosed that information on the person who posted the false information had been obtained and would soon be nabbed.
Meanwhile, Chime who was seen in Enugu on Wednesday, was said to have travelled to Abuja same day on an undisclosed mission.

NSCDC Inspector Arrested For Posting Married Lover’s Unclothed Picture On Facebook

The nefarious use of social media once again came to the fore when a Senior Inspector in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Bayo Onifade, of the Oyo State Command, was arrested by the police for posting a unclad picture of his mistress on Facebook after their relationship turned sour.
Information Nigeria learnt that Onifade and the married woman began their secret love affair in December last year in Saki, a major town in the northern part of Oyo State and while the relationship lasted, Onifade was said to have taken his lover to a location in the town where he took unclad photographs of his lover.
However, following a decision by the 27-year old mother of two to end the unholy relationship in March, Onifade allegedly decided to post the unclad photo on Facebook after his pleas with her for the affair to continue fell on deaf ears.
Facebook users close to the woman’s husband were said to have seen the photo and drawn his attention to it; a development that made him kick his wife out of their matrimonial home.
Onifade, 32, has since been arrested by police for defamation of character and indecent assault of the woman.
The incident was confirmed by the state NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO) , Mr Olusegun Oluwole, who said that Onifade has been suspended pending resolution of the case.

15-Year-Old Boy Jailed For raping His 8-Year-Old Sister

A 15-year-old boy was yesterday sentenced to 3 years in jail by a court after he was found guilty of raping his eight-year-old sister.

According to the victim, the accused grabbed her and dragged her to their bedroom where he ordered her to strip naked. She refused only for the brother to tear her clothes and rape her for hours.

The court heard that the accused later fled to his friend's house leaving the sister in excruciating pain. On arrival from work, the mother noted that the daughter was unwell and when she asked her, she narrated the rape ordeal.

Prosecutor Josephine Wambua told the court that the accused threatened to rape the victim again if she uttered a word to the mother

Appearing before Thika Senior Principal Magistrate DS Orimba, the accused pleaded guilty saying that he was pressurized by his male friends to experiment since they were talking of how nice the experience was. He was treated as a first offender and was given 14 days to appeal.

He will serve his jail term at the Boston Children Center

Woman Dumps Foetus By Road Side

Policemen are looking for a woman who dumped foetus by the road side yesterday evening.
Residents of Langas Estate woke up to a rude shock this morning after they found a nine month old foetus dumped by the roadside near the residential houses.
According to one of the residents, the foetus was fully formed with all the essential body parts. It had blood all over and the Umbilical cord was still hanging.
They suspected that the lady gave birth to a still born and dumped it there. While confirming the incident, Area Police Boss said that the police are looking for the woman and asked residents to volunteer any information that can lead to her arrest. He condemned the act noting that cases of foetuses being dumped in Eldoret had been on the rise in the recent past.

James Ibori's Jail Term Appeal: Dismissed

London, UK -- An appeal filed by the imprisoned former governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, to have his prison term slashed was dismissed today in London.

Two justices of the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand in London stated that the appeal lacked merit and thus dismissed it, therefore affirming the 13 year prison sentenced handed the former governor for stealing and money laundering.
It is to be recalled that Ibori and members of his political inner circle embezzled over $250 million from the coffers of Delta State between 1999 and 2007.
Several supporters of Mr. Ibori, wearing T-shirts calling for his freedom, left the court premises disappointed. Mr. Ibori was not brought to court.

We’ll no longer fund Nigerian military due to human rights abuses —US

As controversy continues to swirl over the  alleged massacre of civilians in Baga, Borno State, the Government of  the United States of America has announced its decision to stop  extending any form of aide to the Nigerian military.
 
US Ambassador to Nigeria, Terence P. McCulley, announced the decision this morning during a closed-door meeting with stakeholders of  Nigeria's human rights community.
 
News Express learnt that at the meeting held in the  Ambsaador's Abuja residence "issues of extra-legal killings by security  agents and state of of insecurity in the country were extensively  discussed," according to one source. Also discussed, siad the source, is  "the unprecedented corruption in Nigerian government circles."
 
At the meeting, Ambassador McCulley restated the US Government's  worry about the issues discussed and made references to the recently  released human rights report of the US State Department which alleged  widespread human rights abuses in Nigeria. He then disclosed that the  Barack Obama administration has consequently decided to withdraw any  further assistance, financial or otherwise, to the Nigerian military.
 
This is coming on the heels of the controversy surrounding the April  19-21 military operation in Baga, a town close to the Chad border, in  which many civilians were allegedly killed in the hunt for Boko Haram  insurgents.
 
Representatives of about 10 prominent human rights group attended the breakfast meeting held with Ambassador McCulley in the Nigerian  capital. They include Dr. Jibrin Ibrahim of Centre for Democracy and  Development (CDD); Kole Shettima of MacArthur Foundation; Emmanuel  Onwubiko of Human Rights Writers' Association of Nigeria (HURIWA); and  Clement Nwankwo of Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC).

Saudi woman flogged for texting stranger by mistake

A Saudi woman has been sentenced to eight lashes by a court in Qatif for mistakenly sending a text message allegedly promoting the Shiite branch of Islam.

The 30-year-old woman, identified only as YH, has been pronounced guilty for sending an SMS to another Saudi woman, containing a group of telephone numbers under the name ‘Shiite Islamic religious services’.
One phone number apparently led to Ayatollah Sistani, Iraq’s most senior Shiite cleric who is renowned throughout the Gulf for his learned counsel on Islamic law.
The Saudi Arabian state is a staunch adherent to the Sunni branch of Islam, and publicly disparages the Shia sect. Shia Muslims are not allowed to practice their faith, or even profess their sectarian beliefs in private.

The act of calling people for Shiism, or openly advocating the Shia faith, has been pronounced as haram (forbidden and despicable in Arabic) by the Attorney General, who publicly demanded that YH be severely punished.
The sentence was eventually conferred by judge Davoud Mohammad al-Davoud, who, according to local sources, is an extremist sectarian with a history of harsh judgements.
The defendant, from the district of Awamiyya, vigorously contested the judgement.
“According to claims by the Attorney General, I have sent the SMS wrongly to an unknown number, and this might happen for anyone else, so, I do not accept the accusations,” YH told the court, according to a report in Mehr News.
However, despite her vehement protestation YH has been unable to win a reprieve against her sentence.

SPIDER MAN WANTED BY THE POLICE FOR STEALING $6,000.

A man dressed as Spider-Man allegedly made off with $6,000 from a tour operator on Hollywood Boulevard, a place known to attract various costumed people who usually pose for pictures in exchange for tips.

As a result, Los Angeles Police officers have been detaining various men dressed as Spidey for questioning. So far, none have been identified as the thief, officer Chris No told the Los Angeles Times.

The suspect reportedly swung into action when he saw an employee of Starline Tours walking away from the company’s Hollywood Blvd. location and helped himself to a paper bag filled with the cash, KTLA-TV reported.

Meanwhile, other people who dress up as superheroes – including Superman, Batman and Catwoman — have promised to keep their eyes out on the Walk of Fame in hopes of capturing the rogue Spider-Man, NBCNewYork.com reported.

This isn’t the first time superhero on Hollywood Blvd. turned out to be a super villain.

In February, 2012, a woman dressed up as Catwoman got into a literal cat fight with an Ozzy Osbourne impersonator. She reportedly pepper sprayed the fake Ozzy and a Jack Sparrow character.

In September 2011, a man dressed asSpongeBob SquarePants was arrested for harassing two women, according to NBC Los Angeles.

The station also reported in 2009 that a Spider-Man impersonator struck a man in the face and arms.

Married Female Teacher Caught Sleeping With Teenage Student

A shamed teacher who was caught in a car with a 17-year-old pupil yesterday admitted that she had s*x with the youth.
A court heard how Eppie Sprung Dawson, 26, had agreed to give the dyslexic teenager extra help with his lessons at the Catholic secondary where she worked.
But the married English teacher, who was only four years into her career, drove him to the countryside, stopped in a lay-by and had s*x with him.
They were spotted together by police officers on a routine patrol.
At Dumfries Sheriff Court yesterday, Dawson admitted that on December 21, while she was in a position of trust, she engaged in s*xual activities with, or directed towards, a person under the age of 18, and that she had s*xual intercourse with him.
Procurator fiscal depute Lyndsay Hunter said that Dawson had met the youth in Dumfries and then drove him to a lay-by on the Cummertrees to Hoddam Road.
She said that at around 5.20pm, police noticed the car, which had condensation on its windows.
The fiscal added: ‘The officers remained in their vehicle and spotted the couple in the passenger seat of the car.
‘They left their vehicle and approached the parked car where they saw the couple having s*xual intercourse.
‘The police officers knocked on the car door and then saw the accused and a male, both unclad from the waist down.’
Mrs Hunter said that Dawson was spoken to and it became clear that she was a teacher.

The fiscal added that she made no reply when  cautioned and charged.
Sheriff George Jamieson deferred sentence until May 1 and called for reports, including a psychiatric assessment.
Dawson, of Dumfries, who taught at the town’s St Joseph’s College, was placed on the s*x offenders’ register.
Sheriff Jamieson said the length of time she would remain on the register would be decided when she was sentenced. Bail was continued.
Solicitor David Finnie, defending, told the court that he would reserve his plea in mitigation until reports were prepared.
When Dawson was originally charged in January, one former pupil said that she often sent text messages signed off with kisses and claimed that she was known for being ‘touchy-feely’.
Yesterday, a spokesman for  Dumfries and Galloway Council said Dawson was no longer employed by the authority and it would therefore not be appropriate to comment on the case.
Last night, there was no answer at the house that Dawson had shared with her husband Ranald, 32 – the son of the former Solicitor General for Scotland, Lord Dawson.
The teenager’s family could not be contacted for comment last night but when details of the case originally emerged, a woman at the family home said: ‘He is the victim in this but I don’t want to talk about it.’
A spokesman for the General Teaching Council for Scotland  said: ‘We are aware of this case and conducting our own investigations into this matter.’

Man jailed 45 years for stealing Gov Aregbesola’s N50k phone

A 31 year old named Kevin Ighodalo (pictured above), has been sentenced to 45 years imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court for stealing a Sony Ericsson phone said to be worth about N50,000 belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. Below is how Punch is reporting it

Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27, 2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.

Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud.

He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three counts and five years for each of the last three which included impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.

Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jail term, held that the convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen Rahman, an associate of the governor.

The jail term, which Falola pronounced will run concurrently, means that Ighodalo will spend the next 10 years behind bars.

Assistant principal state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora, told the court that the convict had served six-year imprisonment in Ikoyi prison custody in connection with a murder case in 2005.

Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to commit him to community service, stressing that the convict should not be incarcerated but rather be placed where people could see him as a convict
