Most Wanted: Russian President's Biker Connections Put Him On Secret Blacklist

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been placed on a list of wanted criminals in Finland for his ties to a motorcycle club. Putin reacted to the news in his trademark ironic manner, while Helsinki issued a number of apologies.
Most Wanted: Russian President's Biker Connections Put Him On Secret Blacklist
On Wednesday, Finnish TV broadcaster MTV3 exposed that Vladimir Putin’s name surfaced in a secret criminal register for his contact with the Russian motorcycle club, the Night Wolves.
Being placed on the list translates to automatic detention at the Finnish border as a criminal for a possible jail term of at least six months. The news has shocked the country and its leaders. Statements of apologies followed.
Finnish Interior Minister Paivi Rasanen extended Putin "sincere apologies for the incorrect registry entry.
Rasanen added "the Interior Ministry considers it of grave concern if a member of the police has made such groundless entries into the database of suspects."
Most Wanted: Russian President's Biker Connections Put Him On Secret Blacklist
The country's prosecutors are looking into the possibility of launching a criminal case against those responsible for the mistake, YLE TV station reported.
The Russian president received the news with a certain degree of irony, but said he would not intervene in any way.
Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said: "I don’t think it calls for any action [on the part of Russia]. As far as we know, the Finnish site has noticed the gaffe in time on its own," Peskov explained.
Law enforcement was quick to correct the mistake and removed the Russian leader from the list.
"The National Police Board has investigated the case and indeed found that such a mistaken entry was in the register," National Police Board spokesman Robin Lardot said, adding "we have ordered it to be removed and are investigating the case very thoroughly. We don’t know how it got there."
The chief of Finland’s national police force, Mikko Paatero, apologized for the "mistaken" inclusion of Putin’s name in the database.
"This kind of incident is extremely exceptional and is not acceptable under any circumstances," Paatero said in a statement.
The database, MTV3 reported, is known only to a few top officials. But police clarified the register was a "computerized personal data file intended for nationwide use by the police."
People placed on the list are suspected to have ties to criminal activity "or having contributed to an offense subject to imprisonment of more than six months, or to an unlawful use of narcotics."

Couple Caught Having S*x In Car Minutes After Leaving Church Service

One couple has celebrated Easter in way more associated with rabbits than Easter bunnies.
photo

Georgia couple Jamel Grant, 26, and Michel Felix Casas, 21, were busted having s*x in their parked Nissan 350Z just minutes after leaving an Easter Sunday church service.
Cops say they caught Casas performing oral sex on Grant in the front driver's seat of the car they'd parked up in the Kroger Grocery Store lot, in Gwinnett County, just before midnight.
Grant was naked from the waist down and Casas' breasts were exposed. There was also a strong smell of marijuana.
They told officers they were "making out" and had just been to church, where they said they attended the Easter Service.
The Smoking Gun reports the pair were charged with public indecency, loitering, prowling and marijuana possession.
It's unknown whether they had in fact been to a service, due to the time they were allegedly caught.

Senate Condemns Purported Plan to Scrap NECO, UTME, etc.

NASS
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije has described the recent announcement of the government intention to scrap the National Examination Council (NECO) and the UTME as a continuity of the pattern of policy somersaults that have consistently limited progress in the education sector.
Senator Chukwumerije made the reaction of the Senate known in a statement made available on Sunday, entitled “RE: Reported Scrapping of NECO and UTME”. According to him, if the proposed scrapping should be effected, it will result in serious reversals in the education sector in the next five years.
The lawmaker said the scrapping would exacerbate the identified key problems in the sector, including access, quality, funding and institutional management. Senator Chuwkumerije said, besides inaccessibility, the sector would suffer anarchy with increased temptations by university authorities to cut corners in obeying rules on carrying capacities and unaccredited courses, thus creating new fertile grounds for the growth of unlicensed institutions.

"We Have Not Committed Any Wrong To Deserve Amnesty"– Boko Haram

The leader of the radical Islamist group Boko Haram has rejected the idea of any potential amnesty deal, which the country’s presidency said it would study in a bid to curb a bloody insurgency, in a statement obtained by AFP Thursday.
photo
Abubakar Shekau, the purported head of Boko Haram who has been designated a global terrorist by the United States, claimed his group had “not committed any wrong to deserve amnesty.”
“Surprisingly, the Nigerian government is talking about granting us amnesty. What wrong have we done? On the contrary, it is we that should grant you pardon,” he said, listing what he described as the state’s “atrocities” against Muslims.
The Hausa language audio recording was distributed by email in a manner consistent with previous Boko Haram messages, and the voice was similar to that of previous Shekau statements.
President Goodluck Jonathan last week formed a panel to look at the possibility of offering an amnesty deal to the Islamists, whose insurgency has left more than 3,000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the security services.
Jonathan has come under intense pressure over the issue, with politicians from the country’s violence-torn north as well as Nigeria’s highest Muslim spiritual figure, the Sultan of Sokoto, calling for amnesty.
The panel, reportedly to be composed of national security officials, northern leaders and others, is due to report later this month.
The move has been widely debated in Nigerian media in recent days.
Boko Haram has claimed to be fighting for an Islamic state in Africa’s most populous nation and largest oil producer.
The group also claimed the February 19 kidnapping of a French family of seven over the border in Cameroon. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
Boko Haram’s demands however have repeatedly shifted and the group is believed to include various factions in addition to imitators.
Nigeria offered an amnesty to militants in the southern oil-producing Niger Delta region in 2009, which has been credited with greatly reducing unrest there, though oil theft has since flourished.
Violence blamed on Boko Haram has been concentrated in the mostly Muslim north.
Christian and Muslim civilians, the security services and other symbols of authority have been among the group’s victims.

LAUTECH RIOT: Only One Student Died - Management

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Nigeria, has debunked newspaper reports that three students of the institution died in the students’ protests on Monday, saying that only one student died.
The management, in a letter dated April 10, 2013 and signed by the institution’s Registrar, J.A. Agboola, also gave the full details of the crisis and how the student died.
Agboola said the “accident occured on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin road caused by a reckless driver who veered off the road and hit a 200-Level female student of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, by name Olojugba Folakemi Esther which resulted in her death.
“Two  students and three other persons (who are not LAUTECH students) were also hit by the reckless driver, but they only sustained injuries. The two LAUTECH students involved in the accident are currently receiving treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.”
The Registrar said the reporter did not have the source of the story from the institution’s management, saying it was “misleading in its content and capable of causing uproar in the university and resentment against the university.”
