Mass Exodus Looms: Ekiti State University Threatens To Expel 10,000 Students

The management of Ekiti State University EKSU, Ado-Ekiti have threatened to expel about 10,000 students who have not paid the mandatory reparation fee of N6, 500 and completed the screening exercise imposed on the students by the university on or before December 14th.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oladipo Aina said this at a meeting held on Friday with principal officers of the institution.
It would be recalled that EKSU was closed down on September 28 following the violent demonstration of student triggered by the news of the death of a final year student of the Accountancy Department, Abiola Yusuf, who was knocked down by a vehicle, which led to the destruction of some buildings , looting of the livestocks from the university farm and burning of about ten vehicles.
The school authorities however reopened the institution on December 3rd with a strict condition on all its students to pay the reparation fee and undergo a screening exercise or lose their ‘studentship’ with the institution.
A source who pleaded anonymity said, “The university has fixed December 14 , 2012 for all students to conclude the screening exercise. Any student who fails to meet up with the deadline may lose his or her studentship.
“The screening exercise requires all students to submit a sworn affidavit of good conduct, letter of undertaking from their parents as well as receipts for payment of the reparation fee and evidence of payment of school fees, among other demands.
“Some of the students have complied with this directive and some are still undergoing the process. But about one third of the student population have not turned up and the university authorities have agreed that any student who neglects this directive would no longer be regarded as a student of EKSU.”
Confirming this development, the Deputy Registrar Information of EKSU, Mr. Olubunmi Ajibade assured that the authorities are firm on the ultimatum of the screening exercise, adding that there would be no going back on the strict condition.
DailyPost also gathered that the school authorities have beefed up security with operatives wearing plain clothes to monitor student activities both within and outside the school.

Oyo’s Technical University To Open 2013

Senator Ajimobi, Oyo State Governor
The government of Oyo State has disclosed plans to start a new university of technology in the state. The first set of students will be admitted into the new Technical University next September.
The Executive secretary of Nigeria’ National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie has formally presented a letter of recognition of the university to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, charging the governor to “give all it takes to the new institution to survive’’.
Okojie expressed dissatisfaction with the manner with which some state universities were being politicised, which always led to their eventual collapse.
“The most difficult institutions to run are state owned institutions,’’ he noted.
He attributed the problem to change in leadership and politics of ethnicity, adding that, “we cannot play politics with university education’’.
Okojie, who also said universities of technology in Nigeria had lost focus, noted that the system was failing because there were no industries to “translate theory into practice.
He said universities had big roles to play in ensuring the advancement of technology in the country, especially through constant researches and commitment to quality education.
Ajimobi said the university was established to fill the gap in courses that were missing in other universities in the country.
“What makes this university unique is that we are focusing on courses that are not readily available in other technical universities in Nigeria, such as mechatronics, aircraft technology, robotics, cyber space security and others.
“What we are doing is marrying classroom with industries through the curriculum, which will be engineering and technology based,’’ he explained.
He said three local and international companies had already indicated interest to cite their industries on the university campus, which would help in achieving the goal.
The governor said the university was being modelled after other technical universities in Asia and Europe, adding that he hopes to encourage entrepreneurship and engineering studies.
Ajimobi said the establishment of university would not affect the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states. The institution, situated at the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, he said, would take-off in Sept. 2013.
Indigenes of Oyo State have commended the governor over the new development but stated their fears the university will lose focus like Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso which Mr Olatunji said lost focus when the university stated offering medical and health science courses.

Breaking News; Okonjo-Iweala’s 82-year-old Mother Abducted

Professor Kamene Okonjo and Daughter, Prof Okonjo-Iweala
Gunmen yesterday abducted the mother of the Minister of Finance, Prof. Okonjo-Iweala, Professor Kamene Okonjo, in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.
The 82-year-old mother of the minister, who is the wife of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, Professor Chukwuka Aninshi Okonjo Agbogidi, was kidnapped yesterday at about 1:30 pm at her husband’s palace in Ogbe-Ofu quarters by eight gunmen who stormed the palace in two Audi 80 cars.
The kidnappers it was learnt had easy access to the palace as the policeman expected to be on duty was absent. They therefore held all the workers carrying out renovation work at gunpoint. One of the suspects was said to have gone upstairs and picked the bag of the Obi’s wife while the woman, who was sitting under a tree after serving the workers some soft drinks, was taken away.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Mr Charles Muka, in his reaction said: “Yes, we (police) have got the information on the kidnap and we have also got information that will lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.”
Sources say the woman who is a medical doctor and a professor was pushed into one of the Audi cars and driven to unknown destination.
Reacting to the abduction, Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has urged the police and other security agencies to track the kidnappers and free Okonjo-Iweala’s mother within 24 hours.
A source said: “The governor fumed when the kidnap was reported to him and said the boys must be tracked down wherever they are hiding at all cost.”
Speaking to newsmen, the state Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah described the kidnap as “very unfortunate.” He said he had spoken to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, and it was clear that the police were on top of the situation.
“I had just spoken to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, and he assured that the police would get the kidnappers.

2 Feared Dead As Gully Erosion Destroys Five Houses in Anambra

Two persons were feared dead and at least five houses swallowed by gully erosion ravaging four communities in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Mr. Ignatius Igwemadu from Urumabiam, Egbema Ozubulu in Ekwusigo and his brother allegedly died when their bungalow fell into the gully erosion, which was first noticed in the village about five years ago.
Other houses swallowed by the erosion were at Egbema and Uamuokpanilo in Ozubulu, as well as in Ibollo Oraifite.
The member representing Ekwusigo constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Pauli Onyeka, who conducted newsmen round some of the erosion sites in the constituency, weekend, said the economy of his constituents had adversely been affected as many farmlands had been washed away and roads cut off.
According to him each of the four communities of Ozubulu, Oraifite, Ichi and Ihembosi that make up the constituency has at least 10 active erosion sites threatening people’s homes and farmlands.
Some houses currently under threat of the gully erosion, include those belonging to the families of Asuzu, whose six-bedroom bungalow completed recently had been abandoned and Onyejiaka Anazodo, whose family members are now living in fear in their one–storey building at Ibollo Oraifite.
Mr Onyeka, who lamented the level of devastation in the area, called on the state government to consider Ekwusigo a priority area when issues of erosion were discussed at the state and national levels.
“Before now, every attention as far as the issue of gully erosion was concerned, was focused on Oko, Agulu and Nanka axis when we have more devastating erosion sites in Ekwusigo. We want Ekwusigo to be declared erosion disaster area. Some casualties had been recorded and we don’t know who would be the next victim.
“What is happening in my constituency is worrisome, disheartening and unfortunate because every town in the constituency is affected by the menace,” Onyeka said. [VN]

Nymphomaniac Dies After Too Much S*x

i first can across this word in the dictionary some years ago it was so funny but i never imagined it was this bad till i read this story.

Dressed to kill: Busty Blonde Antje Knew How To Lure Men
She is well-spoken, a smartly dressed woman who had once been a successful writer and fashion store owner but lost everything because of her sex obsession – including losing her life.
Antje Crapnik, 47 was dubbed the Nymphomaniac of Munich and left men in tears with her insatiable appetite but her obsession with booze-and-drug-fuelled sex, eventually took its toll and Antje Crapnik died last week doing what she loved best.
The woman who could not say “Nein” (German word for ‘No’) was found dead in bed by her latest pick-up.
It was a tragic but perhaps inevitable ending for Antje, 47, who twice hit the headlines for imprisoning men and repeatedly forcing them to have sex.
The curvy blonde would regularly go on the prowl in bars in the German city.
Once, her apartment was broken into by police after a man she had held captive managed to call for help and when she was sent for psychiatric evaluation and treatment for sex addiction, she reportedly told doctors she needed sex 10 times a day, every day. But their treatment failed to help her.
Antje had once picked up a young man, hid his phone and locked the door before subjecting him to a 36-hour ordeal of sex and when he was finally able to escape, he was found in the street by neighbours, naked and crying. He told them: “I met her on a bus. She invited me back here.
“Oh God, it was hell. I can’t walk. Please help me.”
Her mother claimed Antje was a tortured soul, driven to sex by manic depression.
“My daughter was ill, a manic depressive. My Antje was a victim of men. She only went on the pull when she had a manic phase. At other times they wanted nothing to do with her” she said.
Antje’s last sex romp was with her neighbour, Christian, a 31-year old heating engineer. According to him, they drank a bottle of vodka and several bottles of wine and Antje snorted a white powder before having sex several times and they both fell asleep.
Christian alleged that he woke up the next morning to discover ‘the woman who couldn’t say nein’ lifeless in bed next to him. He said: “I knew something was wrong because usually she wanted it first thing in the morning.”
German police are waiting for a full post mortem but said: “At first glance there is no sign of foul play.”
It is thought that the combination of drugs, booze and sex caused her broken heart to stop – and finally release her from the torturous search for the next lover.

Top five Paid Actress

In Nigeria, some movie stars have proven again and again that they can guarantee return on investment as long as their faces adorn the poster. They are Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele and Nse Ikpe-Etim. Or how else could one explain the success of box office hits like Mirror Boy, Ije, and Tango With Me all having Genevieve Nnaji starring in them? And what about Figurine and Anchor Baby which both starred Omoni Oboli as the lead actress?
Mirror Boy, Tango With Me, Last Flight to Abuja and Phone Swap all had sizeable negative reviews, yet they topped the box office, made huge profit and left many Hollywood movies far behind. Here, The Entertainer takes a look at Nollywood's five bankable actresses, their earnings and what is possibly working for them.
Genevieve Nnaji
Topping the list of five is Genevieve Nnaji. Love or hate her, Genny as she is fondly called, has a way with cinema audiences that make them come back again and again for her movies.
So far, Genevieve's starring in the movies has grossed over N83 million at the box office. Mirror Boy (described by the actress as her first major film and the first to put her at the box-office) made N18 million, while Ije netted N60 million turning out to be Nigeria's highest grossing movie ever. But Genevieve had to share the money with Omotola, who also acted alongside her. If the sharing formula is 50-50, then Genevieve gets N30 million of the total gross.
Genevieve's next movie, Tango with Me went on to make N35 million. So, putting all the figures together, Genny remains at the head of the pack. What seem to be working for Genevieve are her enduring power, popularity and social media connection. The actress has been there for over a decade and is still waxing stronger. Her wine seems to taste better with age.
Another plus for Genny is her popularity. Genevieve is hugely popular across Africa and most especially among the youths. Before now, she has been very active on the social media especially Twitter. She even had to put up a Facebook advert after reports emerged that some acts were ahead of her there.
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
Next on the list is Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde with box-office gross of N60 million. She made N24 million with Last Flight to Abuja, N6 million from Private Storm and her N30 million share in Ije bring her total earning to N60 million.
This year alone, no actress has made as much as N24 million from a single movie; Funke Akindele would have done so with The Return of Jenifa but the movie hit the box office in 2011.
Omotola, who was reported to have been paid N5 million by Tarila Thompson all in the bid to make his movie a blockbuster, has been described as the biggest box office actress of 2012. She recorded successes back to back but it remains to be seen if she can pull off the box office magic again with Amina and other movies coming in 2013.
Omotola has been an A-list actress even before Genevieve got her first big break and so what has been working for her is the wise investment in her brand. Her enduring presence and unceasing contact with her fans via the social media has made her popular even in an environment where a mother of four like her is not fashionable.
Funke Akindele
Surprisingly, the third person on the list is Funke Akindele, a young lady who rose to fame in I Need To Know, a TV series, and went on to earn a monstrous fame with Jenifa.
Funke is an unlikely candidate on this list. Now, how can one explain that she is third on a list parading heavy weights like Omoni Oboli, Nse Ikpe-Etim and Stephanie Okereke among others?
So far, Funke has made over N56 million, netting over N20 million in 2012 alone. In The Return of Jenifa, Funke netted N35 million. The movie ran till February 2012. Her movie, Married but Living Single made N9.9 million while Maami made N11 million. The actress is on her way to another cinema glory with a movie, A Wish. Let's hope she will be able to wave the magical wand again and create a box-office success.
For Funke who recently got married, the plus factor for her is her huge popularity among the masses and elites. Her movie, Jenifa cuts across all social groups with the street parlance in it becoming the mode of communication in social gathering. And as an icing on the cake, Funke has moved upscale, she is now the toast of events organized by the rich and not so rich. Her box office credibility transcends the cinema as all DVDs parading her face turn into gold.
Omoni Oboli
Omoni Oboli, who is still largely unknown to those who don't patronise the cinema and social media, is fourth on the list. She is a silent achiever. Before the trio of Genevieve, Omotola and Funke even dreamt of hitting the box office, Omoni Oboli already took the lead. Figurine, her first box office appearance made N13 million while her second effort, Anchor Baby made N18 million bringing her total earning to N31million.
Omoni's strength is her exclusivity and knack for quality. It is a known fact that if the project is not big and ambitious, Omoni might not do it. The disadvantage of that is, despite her box office credibility, Omoni is still unknown in areas where there is no access to cinemas. Perhaps, that is the reason she tries to make up with the red carpet presence.
For now, the exclusivity is working for Omoni; perhaps her new movie, Broken and other works will introduce a new twist. One other thing that should not be forgotten is the unprecedented publicity of Anchor Baby in 2010. The film also had Omoni at the forefront of meeting and greeting of fans at the cinemas.
Nse Ikpe-Etim
The fifth slot belongs to Nse Ikpe-Etim. She seems to be the latest sensation in big budget movies. In Mr and Mrs, Nse was a delight, her performance was a reference point and it was a hook that kept drawing people to the cinema while the movie was there.
Mr and Mrs made N6 million while another of her film, Phone Swap made N20 million, making a total of N26 million.
Too early for Nse to cement her place, as she hasn't done N15 million back-to-back but one thing the actress has made clear is that she has intention of doing that. The leading four acts should be afraid of Nse because her strength lies in her pure acting talent.
Nse is born to act, deemed to be unnecessarily assertive a times, but you can't accuse her of not knowing her lines. And she pushes her movies with virgour, moving from one cinema to the other.
However, Nse should watch it as many have accused her of being too 'self-conscious', a term casually used for budding stars who have 'over-hyped' impression of themselves as this could alienate fans who make the box-office count.
Rita Dominic and Stephanie Okereke
Rita Dominic and Stephanie Okereke should readily make the list but they haven't appeared at the cinemas more than once. Hopefully, Rita will break into the list with The Meeting, Lion of 76 and Street of Calabar while Stephanie already had N10 million under her belt with Through the Glass.

Your Baby Doesn’t Look Like Me – Former Reps Member Denies Paternity Of Actress’ Baby

As the game of denial continues between former House Of Reps member, Dino Melaye and actress Bisi Ibidapo-Obe over paternity of her new born baby, the man at the centre of the storm has reportedly told friends he doesn’t know where the actress got the pregnancy she is now pinning on him.
Dino is quoted to have said, “Don’t joke with such a serious issue. I don’t know where she got the pregnancy from, the baby doesn’t look like me, I can bet it. I am sure DNA will exonerate me from this ugly scenario.”
Our question of the day is this: in the absence of DNA, does a child have to look like you before you accept paternity?

Bloody Victory: City Issue Public Apology Following Ferdinand’s Injury By Coin Throwing Fan

Manchester City have issued a public apology after Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was hit by an object at the end of an enthralling Manchester derby.
Ferdinand was seen wiping blood from his face seconds after celebrating Robin van Persie’s injury-time winning goal in United’s 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
The match ended in ugly scenes as a Manchester City fan ran on to the pitch in the England defender’s direction.
The supporter slipped and fell to the ground as he approached the player and was then obstructed by City keeper Joe Hart who pushed him away. The man was then led away from the pitch.
When Ferdinand left the field at the end of the match he was seen to have an object in his hand which he showed to referee Martin Atkinson before he threw it to the ground.
He later tweeted: “what a result,3points! Sweet! Whoever threw that coin, what a shot! Can’t believe it was a copper 2p….could have at least been a £1 coin!”
Manchester City have said they will assist police with their inquiries.

41-Year-Old Woman Threatens To Commit Suicide As Ex-Husband Refuses To Have Sex With Her

It is alleged that Evelyn Chiswa claimed that she could not imagine her life without her ex-lover’s seemingly cut above the rest sexual gymnastics.

This was after she allegedly threatened to commit suicide at her ex-husband’s place of residence after he refused to have sexual intercourse with her.
Circumstances to the story which sounds like an extract from a romantic Nigerian movie script are that Chiswa was sometime last year reportedly jilted by her ex-husband Ignatius Midzi over an undisclosed domestic reason.
The “dumping” reportedly did not go down well with Chiswa who is alleged to have read a riot act to her ex-lover saying she was not going to fold her hands after he had deliberately placed her on a sexual hiatus. She was alleged to have started phoning and stalking him at his workplace as well as besieging his place of residence tirelessly demanding sex.
Midzi, living true to the adage, “let bygones be bygones” refused to entertain his ex-wife and on the 10th of February this year he approached the Magistrates Court seeking a protection order against the menacing Chiswa’.
Fortunately, he was granted the protection order where Chiswa was ordered by the court not to ever phone Midzi or go to his place of residence and workplace with the intention of disturbing his peace. To the self-styled sex martyr, Chiswa it seems the court order was just like a word of non effect and she continued pestering Midzi demanding sex whenever he brought groceries for their child until she threatened to commit suicide at his place of residence.
The daring Chiswa went on to threaten Midzi saying she was going to dump their daughter at his workplace if he refused to come regularly to her place of residence to have sex with her. Midzi, following the threats went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of his former better half.
Chiswa for the offence of stalking her former husband was brought before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Learnmore Mapiye. She was charged with Contempt of Court as defined in section 182 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23. She was not formally charged and was remanded out of custody to 7 December on free bail.

Two female student of St James Girls High School caught having lesbian s*x, tries to bribe male teacher with sex!!

Anglican run St James Girls High School has been hit by a lesbian “sex” scandal which has resulted in the expulsion of pupils, one of them for offering a teacher sex in exchange for lenience after being caught in the act.
The scandal reportedly started in June when two Form Six pupils were caught by fellow pupils in the middle of the night having a nice time under the sheets, BMetro reported. A report was made to school authorities.
After a probe, the two girls (names withheld) were suspended for two weeks. According to a source, the pupils showed remorse during the disciplinary hearing and promised to give up the lesbian antics. On returning to school after serving the sentence, the two are said to have kept a distance from each other.
“Everyone was convinced that they had indeed stopped their behaviour. They even stopped talking to each other and we all thought that the relationship was over. Little did we know that we were being fooled,” said a source.
Sometime in October, while the rest of the pupils were preparing for examinations, the two were making frantic efforts to resurrect their relationship.
“At a time when we thought they were finished for good, they started. They were spotted a number of times caressing each other in public and during the nights one of them would sneak into the other’s dormitory. Other pupils tipped the matron and a trap was laid leading to the two being caught having “lesbian sex,” said the source.
After they were caught, one of the girls is reported to have offered a senior male teacher sex in exchange for mercy. She had, however, gone overboard as the teacher did not take kindly to that and took up. the matter with the headmaster.
The gravity of the matter resulted in the headmaster Albert Ncube reporting the girls’ behaviour to the. Matabeleland North Provincial Education Director’s office who recommended that they be expelled.
“They were, however, not barred from writing examinations as they wrote all the papers coming from home,” said the source.
Acting Matabeleleland North Provincial Education Director Mr Mathias Luphahla confirmed the incident saying: “We handled such a case and the girls were expelled but I should hasten to emphasise that they were allowed to write examinations,” he said.

New movie ; Ije: 200,000 DVDs Sold First Day Out

IJE, The Journey, Nollywood’s highest grossing movie of all time at the cinema is set to continue its winning ways in the DVD market. IJE has already toppled the record set by Fune Akindele’s Jenifa which sold 100,000 copies in its first week by selling about 200, 000 on its first day on the shelf.
IJE: The Journey tells the story of two sisters with unbreakable bonds of loyalty and the power of the human spirit.
When Anya, the eldest of the two, vows to chase her dreams of glamour in the Hollywood Hills, her younger sister, Chioma—warns her of the dark side of the American Dream. Now, years later, and in a world away from the life she knew, Anya is charged with the murder of three men, one of them her powerful husband.
Chioma travels to her sister’s side to battle not only a flawed justice system with the aid of a young and disillusioned attorney, but the very notion of “truth” as the cultural values of two worlds collide.
Weaving a melodic and beautiful score through rich visuals in Los Angeles and flashbacks on location in Nigeria, IJE captures the viewer from the very first scene and delivers a powerful message through to the moving conclusion.
The movie is selling in over 6000 stores in Nigeria, the US and some parts of North America and on music and video merchandising site, i-Tunes. There will also be live screening on the following sites: www.ijethefilm.com, Amazon and I-tunes.
Speaking on the impressive DVD sales, the director and producer of the movie, Chineze Anyaene couldn’t hide her joy at the feat; “Selling that much on the first day is huge, its more than encouraging. It is not a common feat in a country like Nigeria as a director and producer is always up against various factors,’’ she said.
For the New York Film Academy graduate, the journey into Nollywood has been interesting since she overcame her father’s initial opposition to her career choice. “My father didn’t want me to act in movies for the fear of men touching me on set. He particularly said that no daughter of his would act because he was so uncomfortable with the way men touch ladies while on set but when I told him I was going behind the camera to direct and produce, he said okay, that’s not bad. At a point my mum wanted me to study law but when I returned with my first short film, my father was stunned but very happy and couldn’t believe I could do that, he was impressed.” Anyaene said.
The movie, IJE which stars two of Nollywood’s finest, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji has been tipped to achieve another Nollywood milestone by selling more at the DVD market than it has already done thereby setting a record others will have to work very hard to break. [TD]

Racisim : Nigerian Citizens Now Allegedly Targets Of Extremist Racist Attacks In Greece

Nigerians in far away recession-hit Greece are now living in perpetual fear of attack by extremists as they are now targets of vicious attacks especially by the neo-fascist group, Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn), which blames them for the country’s economic woes.
Last September, two Nigerians while returning to their homes after a weekend away, were victims of a racist attack which kept one of them bed-ridden in the hospital for four days.
Igwe Chijioke and Osama Ojo Osaro John, were reportedly leaving Omonia Metro Station in the city, and walking towards Patission Road when they were suddenly chased by six young Greeks on three motorbikes.
In a letter to the Nigerian ambassador, Chijioke said, “After a long chase they finally apprehended us on the street not too far from the Omonia Police Station and they started beating us and finally they pulled out knives and other sharp objects from their motorbike as they started stabbing my friend and I with the intention of killing us.”
He said in the letter that he identified the attackers as members of the Golden Dawn party from their outfits.
“After a while, they left us on the street in our own blood as they rode off while some group of Nigerians try coming to our rescue by calling the police.”
He said the police arrived at the scene 45mins later and he was rushed to ATHENS Laiko General Hospital where he was admitted on account of his injuries from September 23 to 27 before being discharged.
“The Greek society I thought I knew over the years both in the daylight and its nightlife has presented me with an everlasting/unforgettable memory of my entire life,” said Chiojioke.
“I am a Nigeria Citizen on Passport Number A00494423 that resides in Greece legally with all required legal residence permit (NO. A2621335 – F.NO: 4/166245) with the Greek government,” he wrote, begging the Nigerian ambassador for help to obtain justice from the Greek police and to stop further attacks upon Nigerians in the country.
Chijioke who wrote his appeal to the ambassador on October 2, 2012, has so far, not heard from the Nigerian ambassador to that country and this is even as attcaks against Nigerians there have continued unabated.

‘I am happy what happened has happened. Every parent should allow their kids do whatever they can do to display their talents…’ those were the words of Emike Uyanne, the mother of 8-year old Amarachi Uyanne who emerged winner of the maiden edition of Nigeria’s Got Talent reality show.

The 8-year old singer and dancer from Benin City, Edo State, was announced winner of the highly competitive and entertaining show after scooping the highest number of votes from viewers. The grand finale was held at Bamako Studios, Ikeja, Lagos.

Amarachi who wowed fans including the judges at the studios and viewers alike, is the proud recipient of a whopping N10 million cash prize and she’s got it all figured out even at such a young age.

“I want to study abroad with the money”, she enthused and went further to show her philanthropic side by declaring, “I also want to help orphans and the needy.” While her skills were never in doubt from the beginning, Amarachi believes she couldn’t have made it far without God. “I never thought that I will win. I thank God for helping through it all,” she said.

Judges Yibo Koko, Kate Henshaw and Dan Foster couldn’t agree less with the outcome even though OAP, Foster believes that many of the finalists made it far because of voters emotion.

“This reality show is about talent and not emotions but many people seem to be emotional when voting,” he stated.

The reality show which was sponsored by Airtel, witnessed musical performances by Skales and Niyola from the stables of EME as well as ‘My Dear’ singer, Dammy Krane from the stables of Hypertek.

Zaaki Azzay Pleads With ex-Wife, NGO To Allow Him See His Children

The crack in Zaaki Azzay’s marriage to Hadiza, got bigger when the singer accused his ex-wife and a non-governmental organization, ‘Project Alert’, of illegally keeping his children in their custody.
The estranged couples had sheathed their swords for a while until this recent outburst by the torchlight carrying singer who says he is being intimidated by his wife and the NGO in question.
In his words, “I don’t intend to say much because I had to convince my lawyer to allow me talk to you. You know the issue from the beginning. My wife left the house, two months later, she got some support from ‘Project Alert’. My anger now is with ‘Project Alert’ because they sent her with some thugs to come and kidnap the children two months after she left the house. She took the children and kept them under the custody of Project Alert. Now, with the way things are going, it’s like they are saying it’s not proper to obey the law.”
The singer recalled a particular incidence at his office where he was having an important meeting and his ex-wife barged in on them without notice and demanded to see him immediately despite his plea for her to give him five minutes – a plea she declined.
According to him, “I stood up quietly, took her past my office because my new secretary doesn’t even know her. I took her inside my inner studio and asked her what the matter was. She said she wanted to see Zara, that’s my daughter, the only one that’s with me. I asked her where the other two were, and she said that they were with Project Alert, and that if I wanted to see them, I should go to ‘Project Alert’.
“I take that to mean that she’s staying elsewhere, while the kids are with ‘Project Alert’. Now, is it ‘Project Alert’ that can take care of my children more than me? What kind of organisation is this? You see, my life is not even safe anymore, because they sent the same thugs they sent to adduct the kids to come with her to see Zara. I didn’t even know that she came there with some people. It was when she was leaving that I noticed that two guys were waiting for her in the car. One was standing in front of a lock-up shop opposite my office. And immediately she stepped out, the guy followed her. She then turned to me and said they were her colleagues. But I noticed they were the same guys that came to adduct my kids.
“My question now is why is ‘Project Alert’ keeping my children? I haven’t set my eyes on my children for almost a year now. In fact, my Christmas is going to be a black Christmas without them. What kind of organisation will promote divorce? They never called me or sent me a text all this while to hear my own side of the story. Instead they just saw an opportunity for cheap publicity and to make money because all they did was send me a letter after they have filed for divorce and asked me to pay N300, 000 every month and then went to the press. I have not seen my children close to a year now. Do they know the pain that is causing me? Do you know why I’m sounding like this now? These people are intimidating me.”
But in its reaction, Project Alert among other things denied the allegation that it was illegally holding on to Zaaki Azzay’s children rather, it accused him of under-hand tactics and claimed that his wife was staying with them contrary to his claims that she wasn’t somewhere else.
According to the boss of Project Alert, Mrs. Josephine Chukwuma, “…She’s still with us. At least she has some peace and the children are going to school. The matter is in court, so he should go and wait for the court to determine the custody of the children. Court processes are slow. I have my lawyers that are handling it. It is not our job to ask any woman to pack out of her house. The decision is hers. She decided on her own.”
Meanwhile, the matter is due to come up in court for mention on December 11, 2012.

Eko 2012: Lagos Prostitutes Make Huge Profits, Thank Governor for Hosing the Games

Commercial sex hawkers in Lagos State have a lot to be thankful for as the 18th National Sports Festival, Eko 2012, comes to an end today. In fact, they are giving kudos to the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola for hosting the 12-day competition festival.
Apparently, the commercial sex hawkers made fortunes from randy athletes and officials who stormed the Centre of Excellence for the bi-annual festival. Some of them shared their experiences with Sunday Tribunesport. Hence, in separate interviews with Sunday Tribunesport, ladies of easy of virtues, at the popular Ayilara joint, Ojuelegba, narrated that their business soared during the games as they made huge profits on a daily basis from the visitors who could not hold themselves while the festival lasted.
One of them, Cynthia, who came to Lagos five years ago from Enugu, gave kudos to the Lagos State government for hosting the festival at a time the economy was taking its toll on their business. According to her, “I was in Lagos during the period when the state hosted the (FIFA U-17) World Cup three years ago. I made money but not as much as I made during this festival because many more officials attended this one, so I am happy with our governor for the hosting as I have made some cool cash from it,” she said.
Also, another sex hawker who gave her name as Florence from Akwa Ibom State stated that she made nothing less than eight thousand naira (N8,000) daily, depending on the bargaining power for a night, adding that this was the best time of her career since she moved to Lagos three years ago.
Yet another prostitute, Onome, from Edo State, claimed that during the sport festival, her daily saving was not less than N10,000, being, as she put it, one of the hottest “babes around”. “I really enjoyed myself during the festival because of the number of participants who came to the state,” Onome said.

Middle East crisis solved on Twitter

Netanyahu still hasn't been toldThere were jubilant scenes across the Middle East last night, as the bitter dispute between Israel and its Arab neighbours finally ended, thanks to a series of Tweets from two individuals on opposite sides of the argument.
The unexpected solution to the ongoing conflict was thrashed out in a late night session between @Rafiq_intifada and @Yoni_6DayWar on the popular microblogging website.
Initial discussions were unpromising, with Rafiq posting a Tweet accusing Israel of being ‘a genocidal Zionist terrorist state, using all the worst tactics of the Nazis.’ In response, Yoni tweeted his opinion that ‘all Arabs are murderous Jew-hating cockroaches who should be wiped from the face of the Earth.’
To Yoni’s surprise however, the expected hate-filled reply failed to materialise. Instead, Rafiq suggested that since they clearly had a difference of opinion, maybe they should try to understand each other’s point of view. ‘I was quite taken aback,’ admitted Yoni. ‘Normally this sort of Twitter debate descends into a pointless cycle of increasingly vicious name-calling, with people merely repeating their entrenched positions and neither side taking a blind bit of notice of what the other’s saying. So, although I’d already prepared a draft reply saying that I would happily drop a nuclear bomb on Gaza myself, when I saw his tweet I  thought ‘Why not give it a go?’
Within a matter of hours Rafiq and Yoni had arrived at an amicable deal based on a two-state solution. Asked how they overcame centuries of bitterness and hatred, Rafiq explained ‘To be honest, it was too much effort to go into all that historical stuff 140 characters at a time, so we didn’t really bother. Instead we just decided to start afresh and before we knew it we’d come up with a solution that the two of us could agree to.’
With leaders on both sides embracing the deal, a delighted UN Secretary General, Ban Ki- Moon, confirmed that the so-called ‘Twitter Agreement’ will be implemented with immediate effect.
The peace deal will be signed at a ceremony in Jerusalem, attended by World Leaders from all corners of the globe – although sadly Rafiq and Yoni will not be there, as they have since fallen out in a bitter dispute over whether Justin Bieber is better than One Direction.
