Weird Stuff: Big Brother DKB apologizes and kisses Zainab’s feet on Live TV

Ex BBA housemates DKB from Ghana and Zainab from Sierre Leone were disqualified from the BBA house in June for getting physical with each other. DKB later released a song apologising to Zainab and Africa for his behaviour.
The Ghanaian comedian and radio presenter apologised once more to Zainab on Live TV in Ghana yesterday. The former housemates appeared together on Viasat’s ‘The One Show’ with Joselyn Dumas and PY Addo, where DKB apologised then went down on his knees and kissed Zainab’s feet.

South Africa’s Nelson Mandela Notes Already Counterfeited

Chancers in South Africa are already shopping with fake Mandela banknotes, barely two weeks after the new money entered circulation, officials said Thursday.

“When new notes are introduced there are always endeavours to see whether they can be counterfeited or copied,” said Gill Marcus, governor of the South African Reserve Bank.
The country’s central bank has acknowledged “isolated cases” of counterfeiting of the new banknote series featuring former President Nelson Mandela.
The “Randela” – a nickname that combines the national currency the rand and the name of South Africa’s first black president – is the latest monument to the 94-year-old.
His smiling face features on the front, while the back retains the images of one of the big five animals – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant – which also featured on the old money.
Neighbouring Zimbabwe, which also accepts rand, has meanwhile launched a road show to raise awareness of the new notes as the country is “flooded” with fakes, its Reserve Bank has said.
But even police there are at a loss to spot the counterfeits. “We are not familiar with the new banknotes ourselves,” said Zimbabwe police spokesman Andrew Phiri. South Africa’s Reserve Bank has advised the public “to look, feel and tilt the banknote” to test if they are real.
Revered statesman Mandela held office between 1994 and 1999. He currently lives out his retirement in his childhood rural village Qunu, in the Eastern Cape province. His is the first black face to appear on South African money.

Britain Bans Nigerian Islamist Group Ansaru

London, UK – On Thursday, Britain banned a Nigeria-based Islamist group Ansaru, saying it was aligned with al Qaeda. The minister said the oulawed organisation was probably responsible for the killing of a Briton and an Italian.

Britain’s interior ministry described the group – Ansaru – as a “Nigeria-based terrorist organisation motivated by an anti-Nigerian government and anti-Western agenda”.
The two men Britain believes the group murdered were Chris McManus, a Briton, and Franco Lamolinara, an Italian.
They were kidnapped in May last year near Nigeria’s northwestern borders with Niger and Benin and their captors killed them during a British-Nigerian rescue mission in March this year.
“An order has been approved today by parliament which will proscribe Ansaru from midnight on Thursday evening, making membership of, and support for, the organisation a criminal offence,” the interior ministry said in a statement.
It declined to say whether the group was connected to the deaths of McManus and Lamolinara.
However, the minister of state for immigration told parliament the group was probably responsible.
“It is believed to be responsible for the murders of British national, Christopher McManus, and his Italian co-worker Franco Lamolinara, in March 2012,” he said.
At the time of their deaths, an official at Nigeria’s State Security Service said the captors belonged to a faction of Islamist sect Boko Haram, which has targeted Nigerian security and government officials as well as churches and mosques.
A purported spokesman for the group denied any part in the kidnappings at the time.
  • Ansaru: full name is “Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan,” meaning “Vanguards for the Protection of Muslims in Black Africa”
  • Motto: “Jihad Fi Sabilillah,” meaning “Fighting and sacrificing for Allah’s cause”
  • One Abu Usamata Al’Ansari is claimed to be the leader
  • Ansaru expressed displeasure with Boko Haram’s style of operations, which it described as inhuman to the Muslim Ummah. It vowed to restore dignity and sanity to “the lost dignity of Muslims in black Africa” and to bring back the dignity of Islam in Nigeria and the Sokoto Caliphate.

Pregnant Woman Remanded In Prison For Chopping Off Neighbour’s Breast

A 24-year-old pregnant woman, Funke Jamiu was on Thursday remanded in Kirikiri prisons by an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for biting off a chunk of her co-tenant’s breast during a squabble.
According to the police prosecutor, Cpl. Oluwafemi Adeleye, the accused on November 4 bite off one Bola Ajiboye’s breast during a fight.
Adeleye told the court that Jamiu, a housewife, reportedly committed the offence at No. 17, Awolo St., Isheri-Osun, Ijagemo, Lagos.
He said, “The defendant, who confessed to have committed the act, did not only inflict her co-tenant with bruises but also used her fingers and her teeth to cut off part of Ajiboye’s breast.”
The offence, according to him, contravened section 24 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The prosecutor said that fight broke out between the duo when the accused claimed that there was an unfavourable rumour being spread about her by the victim.
”The other neighbours in the compound, however, involved the police, when the situation became uncontrollable,’’ the prosecutor said.
The magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami, ordered Jamiu to be remanded in prisons when she pleaded guilty to the one count charge, and adjourned the case till November 23 for fact and proper sentence.

OMO SEE FIGHT. LOL

18 Ways To Lose Weight With Out Going On A Diet

If your goal is to lose one pound of body weight a week you must eat 500 fewer calories a day than you were before. And no you don't have to go on a diet to do this. You can do it by changing your eating habits along with a few other things you can do.
1. Instead of having a big glass of orange juice for breakfast have a large orange for breakfast. You'll be saving about 50 calories this way. Try your orange chilled for a treat you'll find yourself enjoying.
2. If you want a omelet for breakfast make it from four egg whites instead of four large eggs. If you want to and to make the omelet stay together better add 1/4 cup of egg substitute to the egg whites when you beat them. Instead of regular bacon use the same amount of fine chopped Canadian Bacon.
3. If your family and you are still using whole milk switch to 2 percent low fat milk. You won't believe the huge amount of calories this is going to save you over a years time. It's little things like this that can help you to lose weight and keep it off.

4. Instead of sugar use a sugar substitute in place of the sugar on your breakfast cereal and in your morning coffee. You can start using Splenda in cooking and baking and once again you'll be cutting back on calories and losing weight. If you check out that link there you'll find out how to make powdered Splenda.
5. Use regular yellow mustard in place of mayonnaise on your sandwiches. You'll save as much as 100 calories each time you do this. This doesn't mean never to eat mayonnaise again it just means to do it as often as you can.
6. The next time you go to McDonald's have a plain 99 cent hamburger and small fries instead of the Big Mac and large fries and you will save around 600 calories each time you do this.
7. At snack time instead of going for the potato chips or candy bar go for a banana or a apple or both and you will save any where from 300 to 600 calories.Plus you have the added benefit of the fiber.
8. Stop drinking regular sodas or regular sweetened ice tea. Drink diet drinks instead of the regular sodas and add a sugar substitute to unsweetened tea or learn to drink unsweetened ice tea.
9. Break your meals up into six smaller meals a day and you'll eat less and be full longer. Just be sure not to over do it with the amount eaten at any of your six smaller meals. These six meals are supposed to be small meals. And where you can add lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to these meals. If you eat smaller high protein meals your blood sugar will be more stable throughout the day and you will be a lot less hungry and likely to over eat.
10. Don't skip breakfast. If you start off the day with a high protein low carbohydrate breakfast you will be less hungry all through out the rest of the day. Add fresh fruit to your breakfast. The more fiber you can add the better off you will be and you won't be hungry later in the day.
11. You should get in the habit of eating dried fruits, fresh fruits, cut up vegetables and yogurt for snacks in place of potato chips or candy bars. A fresh crisp apple is much better for you than any candy bar you have ever ate. A can of peaches in their natural juices with a teaspoon of peanut butter is a great alternative snack to have and its healthy for you to.
12. Start to eat whole grains bread instead of white bread. Eat brown rice instead of white rice. Steam your vegetables and fish when ever you can. Change your eating habits over to healthy eating habits and you'll never have to go on a diet.
13. You can use vegetable, chicken, or beef broth to saute your vegetables in instead of butter and it will be much healthier for you and in time you will lose weight and grow healthier from doing this.
14. Instead of butter or margarine have low fat sour creme or yogurt in your baked potatoes. If you use salt use ground sea salt in place of table salt. The sea salt is packed with nutrients that are good for you.
15. For your salads try making a delicious salad dressing from fine ground peeled cucumbers, plain yogurt, salt and pepper. It tastes great and is much healthier than regular salad dressing.
16. Eat your pasta with marinara sauce instead of other pasta sauces. And make your own marinara sauce from fresh tomatoes and other vegetables and you'll be eating healthier and I bet you'll love the taste.
17. Start to walk and swim. If there is a club in your area that has a pool join it. Walking and swimming are low impact exercises where you are a lot less likely to get hurt. You can walk yourself thin if you will stick to it. Playing in the water and swimming is also a great way to exercise.
18. Learn sensible eating habits. Eating more fresh vegetables and fruit is the best way to do this. Also you need to educate yourself like learning to read food labels. Don't let extra sugar sneak into your life. Keep the sugars you eat to a minimum.
Some of these ways to lose weight may seem really hard to do. Try a few things at a time and gradually work up to using all the weight loss ideals. The only way that your going to lose weight and keep it off long term is to change your eating habits. And as soon as you can you need to add in exercise. You really can walk yourself thin.

This couple is enjoying some down (or is it up?) time chillaxing on a portaledge attached to what looks to be a very steep cliff. A Redditor summed this picture up better than we ever could:

“Even with climbing bolts it’s still hanging off of a motherf*cking rock. My idea of excitement is occasionally taking my tea with sugar.”

Chinese Couple Have Road Built Around Their House As They Reject Compensation To Move Out

This should pass as one of the strangest sights anyone can ever come across on a road. For what it is worth, it is absurd! Sitting on the middle of this road is a five storey block with occupants who have refused to move out or allowed the building to be demolished even as cars drive around it.
Luo Baogen and his wife insist on living in the half-demolished building in the city of Wenling, in Zhejiang province, China because they believe that the relocation compensation offered by the government is not enough.
However to ensure their safety, adjacent rooms in the building have been left intact but all their neighbours have moved out.
Earlier this year, Hong Chunqin, 75, and her husband Kung, who live in the two dilapidated buildings with their two sons, had initially agreed to sell the property in Taizhou, in Zhejiang province and accepted £8,000 in compensation. But then she changed her mind and refunded the money once work on the road had started

Jail is too good for Nigerian pastors - by Abimbola Adelakun

Found this article in Punch. Written by Abimbola Adelakun  (aa_adelakun@utexas.edu)
Recently, the Daily Mail, UK, had a feature on Bishop David Oyedepo. He was accused (alongside his son who ‘manages’ the UK branch) of fleecing worshippers by making “spurious claims” and “cynical exploitation of the gullible”.
The undercover journalist who visited the British church and the British MP who condemned him acted ignorant of the antithesis of faith and logicality when they expressed surprise about how people were urged to give more money in return for blessings that were neither guaranteed nor cognisant of the realities on ground.
The feature also talked about how much of the money creamed off these worshippers are being repatriated to Nigeria (which, in a perverse sense, is a positive development!)
The same Daily Mail, weeks before, ran a feature on another Nigerian pastor in the same UK, Alex Omokodu, (who claims on his website to have raised the dead twice) and another Pastor Mbenga of the Victorious Pentecostal Assembly who scam worshippers by selling olive oil and black currant drink at double the market rate as “miracle cures”, capable of curing terminal diseases.
Like Oyedepo, Omokodu lives large, far removed from the mess he makes of peoples’ lives.
My visceral reaction at those articles was to defend my countrymen against a searchlight that might have been beamed with a racist undertone. I mean, Daily Mail suddenly woke up and realised religion is exploitative? Wow!
Isn’t that what religion has been all about for many centuries? How can we say that what Oyedepo and Mbenga are accused of peddling different from the Pope’s selling of Indulgences in the 16th Century? Religion plays on fear to rip-off poor and miserable people in the name of God. And the irony is, the more people are deceived, the more devoted they become. So, what’s new? From appropriating people’s money to shoplifting condoms to forcing youths to have sex, what have church leaders not done?
If people have refused to read History books that teach us that religion came to us riding on the back of exploitation and politics, why, with the celebrated cases of Jim Bakker, Eddie Long and Benny Hinn among others, do people still throng churches and sponsor their pastors’ excesses out of their poverty? Why has the case of financial scandals involving the creators of TBN Channel -some of which are so disgusting- not caused a mass boycott of these hawkers of falsehood? Why does it spur people to defensiveness instead?
Why did somebody like Jesu Oyingbo have followership in the first place and why didn’t people walk out on Pastor Chris Oyakhilome when he charged gate fees before one could attend service? Seriously, who should take the blame? The person who sells snake oil or the one who finds a psychic relief (however temporary) from buying?
Take the case of Pastor Enoch Adeboye: On his church website, Adeboye claims God told him He had no choice but to keep Covenant Partners alive for 10 years because they were giving to Him within that period. This takes ideas of bizarre and outlandish to another height entirely.
One, a god is meant to earn his keep but Adeboye’s is one whose services people have to pay for, never mind that billions who are not his covenant partners are not only alive, but live considerably better lives elsewhere. Two, can Adeboye, personally, account for every single one of his covenant partners and that in those last 10 years, not a single one died? Can he? We are used to Nigerian judges and politicians saying that their hands are tied, but God? That sounds like something from the mind of a freakish Nollywood screen-writer.
Since the news broke that Pastor Ayo Oritsejeafor has joined the league of Private Jet-Owning Pastors, there has been, thankfully, a sense of outrage at the excesses of Nigerian pastors.
For the record, let me state that Pastor Oritsejeafor is not a good poster boy for Christianity (never mind the various caps he wears, anyone can be anything in Nigeria’s Pentecostalism). I make this point – debatable, of course- not just because of his Bling Bling jewellery like 50 Cents or even his bond with the present occupant of Aso Rock Villa; there is something about him –and I came to this conclusion after watching him raise an offering on Cable TV- that doesn’t seem to me would wait for God to supply all his ‘greeds’ according to his riches and glory.
His private jet was presented while he was sandwiched, like Jesus between two thieves, in the presence of a President who bizarrely declared he couldn’t see how corruption and road accidents are interlinked and, a governor whose public morals fall below average. Rev. Fr. Matthew Kukah could not have put it better: Oritsejeafor’s moral authority is undermined by these dalliances.
The issue is, religion, exploitation and subsequent scandals will not go away. Not in this generation. Not even in this world. As long as there is that primitive instinct in man to seek the supernatural, to seek God and the fear of death is constantly shaken before our eyes, people will continue to subject themselves to exploitative pastors to use as they like.
But the good thing Oritsejeafor has done for us is that he created a conversation; Oyedepo, Omokodu and other sellers of 21st Century Indulgences keep exposing the underbelly of these merchant-pastors; but whether this will translate into a rationality that will cause Nigerians to slow down on the ill-logic of tolerating these pastors’ shenanigans remains to be seen.
It takes more than throwing pastors in jail for their followers to be set free from the mind-prison they are ensconced in. Religion and political power are intertwined in many ways that make this impossible to begin with at all. History shows that, for instance, with an Industrial Revolution, the process creates a ripple effect that bleaches people of primitiveness to transcend religious superstitions while forging a better society that is not predicated on dogmatic concepts of theodicy which religion propagates. When that day comes in Nigeria, and even Africa, these pastors will wilfully choose jail as rescue from irrelevance the times would banish them.
But here’s the problem: These pastors know that with Nigeria’s developmental progress comes their end. And they are actively complicit in the dysfunctionality of Nigeria to extend their own longevity.

Rumoured Blasphemy Against The Prophet Sparks Riot In Kano

Bishop Welby With Nigerian religious leaders and former UK PM Tony Blair launching a campaign to promote religious tolerance… same day religious riot erruptsin Kano
A rumour that a Christian man blasphemed against Islam yesterday sparked a riot in the northern Nigeria town of Bichi, a small town about 30km (18 miles) from Kano, police have said.
Residents said four people were killed and shops were looted.
The riot came on the day the incoming head of the Anglican Church, the Rt Rev Justin Welby, launched an initiative to promote religious tolerance in Nigeria.
Religious clashes have claimed thousands of lives in Nigeria since military rule ended in 1999.
The militant Islamist group, Boko Haram, has also been waging an insurgency since 2009 to impose strict Sharia across Nigeria, which is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and a Christian and animist south.
Kano state police chief Ibrahim Idris said “misinformation” had triggered the riot, AFP news agency reports.
“Rumours went round that someone blasphemed the Prophet [Muhammad] and there was a breakdown of law and order,” he was quoted as saying.
According to a BBC reporter in Kano, a heavy contingent of soldiers and policemen have been deployed to Bichi to restore order.
Mr Idris said the riot broke out when a Christian tailor mispronounced the name of a dress while chatting with his Muslim neighbour in Hausa, changing the meaning to “the Prophet has come to the market”, AFP reports.
Angry Muslim youths then attacked Christian-owned shops, looting and burning them, he said.
Residents said four Christians were killed, but Mr Idris could not confirm this.
Our reporter says some residents gave him a different account of what caused the riot.
They told him that a Muslim crowd first attacked a Christian man for wearing a T-shirt that they alleged blasphemed against the Prophet Muhammad.
In the capital, Abuja, Bishop Welby joined Nigerian Muslim and Christian religious leaders and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to launch a campaign to promote religious tolerance.
The Tony Blair Faith Foundation – which organised the programme – got students from Christian and Muslim communities in Nigeria to chat via a video link with students from different faiths in the UK city of Derby.
Bishop Welby is a former oil executive who will become the Archbishop of Canterbury in March.
He has visited Nigeria 70 times, and was the special envoy to Africa for the outgoing Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who is stepping down after 10 years in the role. [BBC]
